Religion, it is said, is the opiate of the masses. More like the crack cocaine, judging by the amount of havoc that has been wrought in its name. Recently we have heard about 'Stakeknife', the IRA/MI6 double agent, only the latest in a line of 'foreign flag' operations stretching over the centuries. Catholics and Protestants believe in the same God, yet have been mortal enemies for centuries. Doesn't that strike you as being, well, a bit strange? Following the God of Peace and Love leading to internecine warfare?
It is time to question everything we have learned, for it appears we have been fed systematic lies all of our lives, the tentacles of which still engulf us. Let us use our brains and this marvelous research tool, the internet. Put aside your ideology, your prejudices, your ego, even your hopes. The quest now is to de-tox your mind so that you can once again taste truth and falsehood. The proprietor of my favourite alternative news website has today chosen to write at some length in response to yet another story about the Zionist/Neocon situation. He has acceded to my request to re-post his comments. He is always at pains to point out that he has no truck with anti-Senitism. Add to that half a dozen so-called Holy Crusades from the Christians who claim that their invisible man who lives in the clouds and talks only to them says that THEY own the holy lands, and you will see that people could live together in peace just fine if it were not for all these invisible men living in the clouds (and those who claim to hear the voices)!
Folks, this swindle is thousands of years old! "Hey, you, I'm Pharaoh, and if'n you'll haul that there rock up to the top of that there pyramid, I'll fix it so you never really die!" or, "I want you Vikings to go loot that village in England, but don't worry, because if you die with a sword in your hand you'll get to go to Valhalla." Or, "One of your men must fight in the crusades or none of you will be allowed into heaven". Every con artist in a funny robe claims the god described in their particular parchment wants them and their buddies to have all the goodies, and for you and your kids to kill and die to get it for them!
Man has made his way into space, cracked the secrets of the atom, and decoded DNA. Don't you think we've outgrown the need to whack each other over whose mythology has the bigger gonads? It's cute to see school kids pummel each other over whether Superman or Batman is better, but when the same argument expands to entire nations armed with weapons of mass destruction, the cuteness wears off. And the irony is that the very existence of conflict and war rooted in religious superstition is the greatest proof that the claimed gods simply do not exist. For if there were really a god or gods able to make themselves known to the minds of men, then all the priests of all the world's religions throughout history would agree on how many gods there are. This most basic result that must follow the reality of any god or gods has never existed on Earth. Ergo, the gods used to control you are fictions created for just that purpose, to keep you obedient, to keep you filling those collection plates, and to send you out on command to slaughter other peoples and steal their wealth, all in his/her/theirs/its infinite mercy and holy justice.
And you know the real joke? All three religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, began with Abraham. The promise of the land in the Old Testament predates the splitting off of the other religions, which means that the biblical promise of land has to apply to all three groups.
